05/01/2006: "Helen Raw heads for Hollywood"

And before she goes is organising and headlining Big Band Charity concerts.

Helen has been accepted by the TVI Actors Studio to train with industry professionals in Hollywood and will work with the directors, producers, writers, actors and casting directors from programmes such as Desperate Housewives, Law and Order, Ally McBeal, Frasier and Angel.

Before she heads off to Hollywood, Helen has decided to go out with a bang and perform a Big Band show at the Carnegie Hall Dunfermline on Friday 13th and Sunday 14th January with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Relief and The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Scotland. The show will feature music from artists such as Barbra Streisand, Eva Cassidy, Linda Eder, Dusty Springfield, Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald and many, many more. Helen hopes to feature up to 8 musicians and this show follows on from her successful cabaret evenings at the Tiffany Bar.

Helen has been working in theatre since she was 11 years old and has appeared in many musical theatre productions, pantomimes and comedy plays as well as various film, television and promotional projects.

She produced and directed her own successful variety shows which raised £000’s for national charities as well as appearing in other solo productions across Scotland .

Helen has spent the last two and half years on cruise ships as an entertainer, singer, compere and game show host and, as well as being the co-host and entertainer for Patrick Swayze and his entourage, she won the coveted Circle of Excellence Award for her service to entertainment.

Recently she was the face of The Men’s Store (Glasgow) Christmas Campaign.
