20/07/2007: "Benjamin Ellin launch his website"
We are pleased to welcome composer and conductor Benjamin to Actually Actors.
Benjamin Ellin is currently Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of EMFEB, Music Director of the Seychelles International Festival of Music, Director of Music at the Pembroke Academy of Music and Principal Conductor of the Hayes Symphony Orchestra.
His compositional output is prolific and encompasses a wide variety of genres. Current projects include works for violinist Harriet Mackenzie, an Oboe Sonata for Rachel Baldock and a new work for cello with Sagi Hartov amongst others.
Benjamin Ellin graduated from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London in 2002 where he studied composition with John Woolrich. In 1996 Benjamin accepted a place at Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester. It was in this environment that he began his study of composition and conducting. He was regularly invited to compose and conduct at the school and in addition participated in the Composition Scheme on National Youth Orchestra courses under the artistic guidance of Paul Patterson.
Benjamin Ellin is noted for his work with audiences and musicians alike, his diversity of repertoire and his fresh and undaunted approach to the more standard greats. His commitment to offering first class classical culture to as wide an audience as possible is best highlighted through his work with his own organisation, EMFEB, based in London, where their acclaimed performances and presentations of old and new music has drawn new audiences to their work and has seen the organisation travel across the country and abroad.
